Here's another manicure for the Christmas season. It's a super festive look that's fun to wear on all your nails, or just a couple of accents. You can use striping tape to create your own candy cane effect, but I totally cheated and used my stamping kit. It's soooooo much faster than working with striping tape. BUT... if you're just doing 2 or 3 accent nails, taping probably wouldn't be that bad. But I'd probably still stamp... especially if you've got the plate!

12 MoC: Christmas Cookies

Sally Hansen Eyelet over Rainbow Honey Cafe Con Leche

Sally Hansen Eyelet & Rainbow Honey Cafe Con Leche

Sally Hansen Eyelet over Rainbow Honey Cafe Con Leche

Sally Hansen Eyelet over Rainbow Honey Cafe Con Leche

Nude Glitter Nails

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats Rainbow Honey Cafe Con Leche
2 Coats Sally Hansen Eyelet
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

You know, I'm not normally one for nude polish, but add in a whole lot of shimmer and paint some glitter on top, and I'll wear it for days! Well, at least one... I've still got four more Manicures of Christmas to go! Aaaaand if I can be completely honest, I can't waaaaiiiit to see what new polishes might be in my stocking(s) and under the tree!

But for now... Christmas Cookies! That's what I've called this pairing, and so far this year, my little Peanut and I have been quite the cookie baking elves. There's even a super fun dance involved, and it's quite catchy! But alas, I digress...

Cafe Con Leche came in my October mystery bag from Rainbow Honey. I've been wanting to wear it for a really long time, but I couldn't quite bring myself to wear it alone. Then, on Sunday, the Sparkle Pack was out shopping for Christmas presents and I found the Sally Hansen Luxe Lace polishes and had to buy them. (Remember that whole Holiday No Buy thing? Hahahahahahahahaha... me neither!)

The formula on Cafe Con Leche was great and I could've stopped at two coats if it weren't for that whole wrapping tips/3 coat rule I seem to abide by. There's a ton of golden shimmer and honestly, it's a nice departure from the typical white/silver shimmer you typically see in nude polishes.

Then there's Eyelet... Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that a mainstream brand put out an all-white satin glitter topper with all different sizes of hexagons? Because that's really something to celebrate. And if that weren't enough, they went and made the exact same polish in black and dubbed it Ruffle. (yes, I bought that one, too.) I did manage to somehow smudge my middle nail on my swatch hand at some point last night, resulting in a wrinkly sort of effect in the photos above. Not quite sure what happened there, and honestly, it's not nearly as noticable in person!

I'm really loving the subtely of this manicure. If it weren't for that one wonky nail, and the fact that tomorrow is Christmas Eve, I might consider keeping this layering on longer than just one day. But nude nails for Christmas? That would be a little too unsparkly and grinchy of me, don't you agree? Besides, I've got a reputation to uphold!

12 MoC: Wispy Sparkles

SinfulColors Queen of Beauty over SinfulColors Wisp

Silver Glitter over White Nails

Silver and White Manicure

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulShine Wisp
1 Coat SinfulColors Queen of Beauty
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

So... I've finally found a true white polish that is wonderfully opaque and self-leveling. Its name is Wisp, and I'm seriously in need of another 5 bottles or so. Maaaaybe 8. (Is that excessive? Don't answer that...)

White nails look crisp and fresh any time of year. It really doesn't matter if the heat is sweltering, or the thermometer has totally bottomed out. It just works, you know? Buuuuut I like to add a little sparkle to everything I do, so a nice layer of fine silver glitter later, and you've got yourself a fresh and festive look!

12 MoC: Merry Marsala

Since the announcement of Pantone's Color of the Year 2015, I've been on the hunt for Marsala in polish form. You might think this would be a simple task, but it's actually been quite difficult, and I'm still not 100% there. But this polish is thee best match (and deal) I've found so far. I give you Haze of Love...

4 Coats Wet N Wild Haze of Love
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

Marsala is an earthy red with an almost equal blend of red and brown. It's a super versatile shade, and depending on what you pair it with, it can lean towards either color. It's a rich shade, but not overly dark, and a little dusty. In all honesty, Haze of Love is a decent enough match, but it could still stand to be muted down a little bit. It's just the slightest bit too dark, now that I look at the graphics and my nail photos so closely together. But how many people are going to put the two side by side in real life?!?

Marsala by Pantone

Wet n Wild Haze of Love

It's always a toss up as to what the Color of the Year will be. And then, as the year proceeds, we see whether or not said color has any real staying power. In 2012, Tangerine Tango was EVERYWHERE. In 2013, Emerald was the chosen color, but mint was what flew off the shelves. This year, the color might've been Radiant Orchid, but Cobalt really came back in a big way. So... will Marsala be a hit, or a miss? Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Formula-wise, I've really come to like the megalast polishes from Wet N Wild. I've even come around to the moppy brush, which I'll admit, I never thought would happen. The size and angle of the brush allow for more control at my cuticles and along the sides of my nails. I did have a little trouble when wrapping my nails, some of the polish on my ring finger smudged a bit. Had I wrapped earlier than between coats 2 and 3, that probably would NOT have happened, though.

Haze of Love is part of the Wet N Wild megalast core collection. I picked my bottle up at Dollar General over the weekend for $2.

Fishbowl Friday *008*

I'm thinking I need to dump out my prompts, shake 'em up, and put them in the bowl all over again. Or maybe just get a bigger fishbowl. This week's prompt is 4 COLORS. (Not all that different from last week's prompt, huh?) Thankfully, my definition of "color" is broad, and can mean four distinct hues OR four different bottles of polish. I'm going with the latter, bringing you a manicure featuring four different polishes...

4 Polish Manicure

SinfulShine Most Sinful Accent Mani

4 Polish Manicure

SinfulColors Ice Dream Accent Mani

SinfulColors Ice Dream Accent Mani

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulShine Most Sinful
1 Coat SinfulColors Ice Dream (accent)
1 Coat SinfulColors Queen of Beauty (accent)
1 Coat Spoiled Champagne Siren (accent)
1 Coat SinfulColors Queen of Beauty (accent)
2 Coats SinfulColors Ice Dream (accent)
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

I'm seriously loving this manicure right now! Honestly, Most Sinful and other bright blues are just so fun and cheery, I can't get enough. It also doesn't hurt that they're kind of trendy at the moment, either! I definitely could've gotten away with just two coats of Most Sinful, but I forgot to wrap my tips, so, three coats and on to my accent nails.

Why all the layers of glitter on the accents? If I had used only Ice Dream, it probably would've taken forever to reach the opacity in my pictures. I was planning to add Champagne Siren, and had figured on adding SinfulColors Super Star to the mix, when I realized just how sheer Ice Dream was. And honestly, I think using Queen of Beauty as filler rather than Super Star kept this from becoming a total failicure.

I've already drawn my prompt for next week, and I think I might just continue to do that in the future, so I have some planning time. Stay tuned... next week, the prompt is BIRTHDAY. Hmm... should I use glitter, glittery shimmer, shimmery glitter, or just do a jelly glitter sandwich?!?

12 MoC: Christmas Skittles 2.0

Last time, I showed you how to mix it up with non-traditional colors for your nails. If you're looking for a more traditional festive and fun manicure, these skittles might be just the thing to try!

Holiday Skittle Mani

Christmas Skittle Mani

Holiday Skittle Mani

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulShine Amazonian (l. thumb, r. pointer)
2 Coats SinfulColors Queen of Beauty (l. pointer, r. ring)
2 Coats Spoiled Champagne Siren (l. pointer, r. ring)
3 Coats SinfulShine Devious (r. middle, l. thumb)
4 Coats SinfulColors Exotic Green (l. ring, r. pinky)
2 Coats China Glaze Ravishing, Dahling! (l. pinky, r. middle)
2 Coats China Glaze Twinkle Lights (l. pinky, r. middle)
1 Coat China Glaze Ravishing, Dahling! (l. pinky, r. middle)
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

This isn't the first time I've done Christmas Skittles, but I do like this version better than the one I did last year. I think because of the variation in colors and finishes. Amazonian is a dark evergreen with small green sparkles that is just perfect for Holiday nail art. (Especially Christmas Trees!) Queen of Beauty and Champagne Siren are silver and gold glitters respectively. I love how they looked mixed together. It's seriously thee perfect blend of gold and silver, and it never gets old! Devious is a bright red creme with a slightly jelly finish. I definitely had some VNL because of that. Exotic Green is a grass green jelly polish that I've been lemming for quite a while. Soooo glad I picked it up. I really like the shade of green AND the finish! Then, there's Ravishing, Dahling and Twinkle Lights...

Originally, I had planned to simply put a coat of Twinkle Lights over Ravishing, Dahling. But, because Twinkle Lights is so densely packed with glitter, that didn't really work. So what did I do? Paint on another coat, of course, which only made things worse, and I thought I'd have to start over! Thankfully, I decided to try to go over the glitter with another coat of Ravishing, Dahling, instead! That ended up making the gorgeous darker red jelly glitter sandwich you see above!

What do you think of Christmas Skittles 2.0?

12 MoC: Razzleberry Sparkles

SinfulColors Feeling Great and Rainbow Honey The Master

Rainbow Honey The Master Accent mani

SinfulColors Feeling Great Accent Mani

Rainbow Honey The Master Accent Mani

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulColors Feeling Great
2 Coats Rainbow Honey The Master
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

It's officially the time of year to Razzleberry All. The. Things. Okay, so maybe that's just my Dad, but it's definitely contagious! I find it really easy to get stuck in a rut of red, green, gold, silver, and repeat this time of year. There's definitely nothing wrong with switching it up a little bit and painting your nails a nice bright pink! (or really, any other bright color you love!) To make it festive, just do what I did, and add a little bit of shimmer on your accent nails! Insta-Holiday Classic!!!

Feeling Great was hanging out with the Holiday SinfulColors display the last time I was at RiteAid. I've never met a bright pink I didn't like, so I just had to pick it up, despite the fact that I'm supposed to be on a No Buy right now. In my defense, I did have a coupon, so, that makes me feel a little bit better. Feeling Great could've easily been opaque in 2 coats, but I was a little tired while painting, so the third coat was a necessity for me. Midnight painting isn't always the best idea, but it always seems like it at the time. O.o
The Master came in December's Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag, and I've gotta say... Rainbow Honey is really making a case for switching to a full size subscription! I'm seriously loving their creations lately! The Master is loaded with sparkle! It's a mix of small pink and purple irridescent glitter and irridescent gold flakies packed in a sheer pink base. The glitter payoff is amazing. I used 2 coats for my mani, but I had great coverage with just one!

I'm seriously loving this mani, but not really enough to keep it on for another day. And, I've definitely got 9 more Manis of Christmas to go... (#12 will very likely be my NYE mani, but still.)
