Bongo Party Pumps

I picked this up during some post-Christmas shopping, because I thought it looked like a Radiant Orchid contender. No, I wasn't wearing blue lenses, and I can't really blame it on the fluorescent lighting. This shade definitely leans more towards pink than purple, but it's still pretty and I like it... :)

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
4 Coats Bongo Party Pumps
1 Coat Borghese Clear Coat
1 Coat Essie Good to Go

I'm well aware that this is a very cool, blue-toned, 80's kind-o-pink. Maybe that's why I like it? Something about my inner Gem yearning to be free?!?

Ummmmmm, no.

I had L'Oreal Butterfly Kisses in my hands, and I put it down and picked this up instead. I'm still kind of regretting NOT buying Butterfly Kisses, but Party Pumps is a pretty shade that's really wearable. It's even got an extremely fine pretty shimmer going on if you look REALLY close. Unfortunately, it's way more apparent in the bottle than on my nails, but it's there. Promise.

So... four coats, you're wondering? Yep. Totally necessary. My third coat was still a bit patchy and streaky, so I had to use a fourth. I'm not sure if it's just this shade that was faulty, or if it was user error. We have been dealing with quite a bit of sleep regression* at Chez Sparkle. :(

Have you spotted any Radiant Orchid-esque polishes out in the wild?

*Approximately 65% regression, 35% flat-out refusal.

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…
