OPI Pink-ing Of You

Today's polish is actually part of a boxed set from OPI. Every October, OPI releases polish to benefit breast cancer research. I posted this on Instagram right after the Holidays, so my apologies for the deja vu...

Pink of Hearts 2013 came with a bottle of More than a Glimmer, (which I've yet to try) and Pink-ing of You. The set also came with 10 pink ribbon nail decals and 10 rhinestones. (Haven't tried those yet, either!) Alas, on to the swatches!

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
4 Coats OPI Pink-ing Of You
1 Coat Borghese Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

Pink-ing Of You is a bubblegum pink creme polish... the very same hue as those pink breast cancer research ribbons. It's a pretty color, but I feel like the formula on mine was off. 4 coats, and I can still see some streaks. Blech.

I know, I know... I'm probably expecting too much considering this is a pastel polish, and they just love streaking. But... OPI has done plenty of similar toned pinks without a streak in sight. They've also done a ton of other pastels without issue. I'm not sure what gives on this one... Maybe I got a faulty bottle? Pink-ing Of You could definitely use some jellification or shimmerizing. It couldn't hurt, right?

But I definitely do really LOVE this color. It's soooooo 1985 and my inner Barbie just loves it. :)

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.

Fishbowl Friday 072 // Hard Candy

We're going to skip that whole part where we talk about how it's been a while, because well, it's been a really long while. I'm still trying to work out how to make room for blogging and juggle everything else, and it's definitely been a challenge. But know that I am working on it, and I do really, really miss it. This place has been my Quantum of Solace for a long time, and I'm not planning on letting it go anytime soon.

That being said... for this week's prompt, I was happily surprised when I pulled HARD CANDY. This is probably one of the most iconic brands of nail polish, and it's certainly gone through it's own number of changes throughout the years. Who didn't want to own a bottle of Sky once they saw it on Alicia Silverstone's nails way back in the 90's?

Last year, Hard Candy celebrated their 20th anniversary by bringing back some of their most iconic shades. The collection was a mix of five original shades and three new ones. I ma…
