31 Day Challenge 2014: *18*

Moving on from glitter was definitely hard. I could've worn that mani for a lot longer. BUT... the challenge goes on, and I'm already 2 days behind... so, here we are with HALF MOONS for Day 18 on what's supposed to be Day 20 of the #31DC2014.

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulColors Smokin'
2 Coats Sally Hansen Jell-ous?
2 Coats Sally Hansen Grape Jelly
2 Coats Sally Hansen Jell-ous?
1 Coat Sally Hansen Grape Jelly
1 Coat OPI Pirouette My Whistle
2 Coats Sally Hansen Jell-ous?
1 Coat Seche Vite

I'm seriously loving this manicure, so much so, that I'm sad to take it off. I'm definitely going to have to try another half-moon mani in the the future. Hard to believe this was my first one!

To create my half-moons, I used binder reinforcement stickers. I painted on 3 coats of Smokin'... a charcoal gray creme polish. Varying between coats of Jell-ous, a sheer pink jelly, and Grape Jelly, a sheer jelly purple polish, The gray turned into more of purple, while the negative space half-moons took on a sheer rosy pink. At that point, my nails were pretty, but they were definitely missing something. So, I added a coat of Pirouette My Whistle for a touch of glitter. 2 more coats of Jell-ous on top of that, and I was ready for a thick coat of Seche Vite to start the drying process.

As much as I like how my half-moon manicure turned out... I'm really anxious for the next prompt. GALAXIES... here I come!

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…
