31 Day Challenge 2014: *20*

I've moved past the galaxies to... (duh, duh, duh...) the dreaded WATER MARBLE manicure...

What. A. Mess. That's how I'd sum up the whole process that is the Water Marble manicure. It's a complete and total mess. A cool looking mess, sure... but a mess, none the less!

Since this was my first time marbling, I decided to keep the effect relegated to my accent nails. I can't imagine having to do all 10. I definitely had to go back and redo 2 of my nails a second time, and I never did get my thumb to look quite right. I'm pretty sure there's some cotton ball fibers in there, but texture is a thing, now... right? (just say yes, please!) Honestly, if I had tried to do all 10 nails, I'd probably still be working on it. O.o

That being said... for my first time, (and an attempt that wasn't in my native nail lab...) this turned out pretty well. I think the effect looks really cool, and I know with more practice I would get better at it. But, truthfully? I can't really say that I want to get better at it. It's just soooooooo messy. Cleanup took quite a while, immediately after painting last night, and even this morning. I was sure my hands were going to be stuck to my sheets when I woke up, but thankfully that didn't happen!

Now that the messy water marble is behind me, it's time to get on to the more abstract part of the challenge... the final stretch that I've been looking forward to! Nails Inspired by A COLOR... But which color should I choose?!?

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.  Polishes Used:  1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Out Ridge Filler 3 Coats SinfulColors Mauve On Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line 1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.  Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.  This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd c

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027 , today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION ...  Polishes Used: 1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Over Ridge Filler 3 Coats China Glaze Violet Vibes Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line SinfulShine Konstellation 2 Coats SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and

This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3 In case you missed my review of First Kiss , daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health. Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter sha
