Layering with SinfulColors Galax-Sea

Galax-Sea by Sinful Colors
left to right: 1, 2, 3, and 4 coats of SinfulColors Galax-Sea

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulColors Pink Cream
2 Coats SinfulColors Galax-Sea*
2 Coats SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Essie Good to Go

When I first saw these "magical green flakes," I knew they had to be layered over pink. Think of it as a modern take on this festive time of year. It's a great way to incorporate a little Holiday spirit into your nails without going too over the top. We've got plenty of time for that come December!

Galax-Sea contains green hex glitter, green glitter flakes, and irridescent square glitter. I'm not usually drawn to green glitter, or really green polishes in general, but this one is definitely unique. A mix of shard and square glitter? Sold!

The base of Galax-Sea is clear, with just a smidge less glitter payoff in one coat than Unwrap Me. That being said, it builds nicely, and 2 coats was definitely enough to layer over Cream Pink for my pictures. And about those green flakes, or shards, as some like to call them... I didn't find them to have overly sharp or jagged edges. I mean, I can feel slight indentations, and you can see some in my pics, but that's pretty normal. As a precaution, I used 2 coats of clear, (rather than one) then topped with Good to Go.

I had a feeling I would really like this layering, and I'm definitely sad that it's going to come off this evening. BUT... I'm also really excited about the next mani I've got planned, and the one after that!

Galax-Sea is part of SinfulColors Holiday 2014 Collection. You can find it in the SinfulColors Holi-Dazzled display, available exclusively at Walgreens for $1.99 a bottle! The full collection also contains Decadent, Hottie, Let's Talk, Out of This World, Pine Away, Sugar Sugar, and Twilight Twinkles. Follow SinfulColors on Facebook and Twitter.

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…
