Fishbowl Friday *011*

I believe I mentioned something last week about needing to mix up my prompts? And it really might be time to purchase a larger fishbowl so the prompts can actually swish around a little whole lot more! Either way, this week's prompt is GREEN...

SinfulColors Calypso Layering

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulColors Calypso
1 Coat Pure Ice Busted
1 Coat Pure Ice Heartbreaker
1 Coat Pure Ice Busted
1 Coat Seche Vite

Last Sunday was my first Walgreens run of 2015. It's been a while since my last visit, so it was nice to peruse the aisles, leisurely searching for polishes. Peanut and I visited all the giant Valentine's Day stuffed animals, and she got to pick out a Hello Kitty stuffy for her good behavior. I picked up Calypso from SinfulColors, in addition to a bunch of other polish.

Now, I know what you're thinking... Calypso isn't exactly green, but it's not 100% blue either. It's a green-leaning peacocky blue creme that's really pretty, and a fun alternative to black! Formulawise, Calypso was a breeze to apply, just what I've come to expect from SinfulColors. Oh, and it was practically opaque in one coat, but you know me and my rule of three!

It would've been easy to just paint my nails with Calypso and go, but Heartbreaker was out on my nail desk and begging to be used. I sandwiched it in between coats of Busted on top of Calypso, and sadly, it completely disappeared. Like, you'd really never know it was there at all, not even from the photos! So weird. But I like it anyway!!!

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.
