State of the Sparkle *009*

Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but I'm totally ready for a nice, relaxing weekend. With a little running around sprinkled in for good measure!

Happy New Year! Did I ever really get to say that?!? I don't think I did. This year, the Holidays were extra-crazy because Mr. Sparkle was only home for a month. Soooo we definitely tried to fit about 8-10 months of real time into one month. We went on soooo many dates together... gosh I missed that! You really have no idea how much having a little one changes the family dynamic until you're out for dinner sipping on Sangria and ordering whatever you want. 'Cause, you know, your lil' Peanut isn't there to munch on the food from your plate rather than their own!

New Year's Resolutions........................? Yep! This year, I actually have two. The first is, of course, the obligatory get-in-shape/eat-healthy/lose-weight resolution. For that, I've actually purchased my very own exercise mat...

Resolution No. 2... Get Organized! I finally ventured into the world of custom planners. I ordered an Erin Condren life planner for Chez Sparkle and a Plum Paper Designs teacher planner for work. I've been drooling over the Erin Condren planners for years, but Plum Paper was actually a recent find. I'm not a teacher, but the options fit my extremely detail-oriented needs. I'm really excited to get them, and will probably end up reviewing them here.

I'm still patiently waiting for my Zoya New Year New Hue order... In other news, it's unbelievable how many companies have New Year New Hue collections out right now. O.o

Zoya Rue, Tomoko, and Rebel

I was browsing around Old Navy and the vest I've been stalking magically appeared. That seriously never happens, so I threw it in my basket, added a pair of tights for Peanut, and placed my order!

Pretty sure I'll be picking up one of these soon for Chez Sparkle...

organization = storage for all the things!

Healthwise... I think the plague has left Chez Sparkle. I think. I don't know what it is, but this year, the germs have been knocking me and Peanut down from all angles, and then we pass it on to each other, and yick! It really was a total germfest for a little while there. O.o

Pretty Little Liars Season 5B!

And last, but most certainly not least... the Pretty Little Liars recaps are coming, I promise! Bedtime has been a little crazy lately, so watching PLL hasn't been the easiest. I'm hoping to get Peanut in bed and asleep in time for this week's 8PM showing. I seriously miss liveblogging at 8, and it's soooooo hard to wait until 10PM sans social media for fear of spoilers.

Other than that, I'm not too sure what Peanut and I will be getting up to this weekend. Definitely some shopping and running around tomorrow. They're calling for warmish weather on Sunday... (funny how 40 is warm nowadays) so, maybe I'll take Peanut out for some fresh air/wiggle time? We'll have to wait and see how that shakes out. Oh, and there was talk of breakfast out on Sunday after church. So... I guess we do have quite a bit on the books already! Happy Weekending!!!

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.
