Fishbowl Friday *025*

This week's Fishbowl Friday really takes it back! I pulled NICOLE BY OPI for my prompt, and I just couldn't help reaching for Back to Reality... TV...

Waaaaay back when I was planning Fishbowl Friday and coming up with prompts, I thought it would be fun to add a couple of brand prompts into the bowl. I tried to make them brands that I had a good amount of polish from, so this one surprised me a little. Back to Reality... TV is one of only 9 polishes I own in the Nicole by OPI line. I haven't bought one in a while, and it's a brand that's really fallen under my radar.

How does that happen? Well, the display is definitely tucked pretty far back at my local CVS. And that same store still has the Seize the Summer display out from last year, so I'm not even sure they're turning over stock like they should be. I don't remember seeing the Coca-Cola Collection stock there, now that I think about it. Weird.

Regardless, I'm glad I included it in the list of prompts, and I'm really glad I pulled it. Like I said, it's been a while since I wore a Nicole by OPI polish, and I forgot how much I loooooove this shade! Back to Reality... TV was part of the Kardashian Collection for Spring 2012. I remember swatching this for my old blog Polish & Prose, but it never quite made the transition over here.

At the time, red shimmer was a thing, kind of like how right now, turquoise shimmer is a thing. Back to Reality... TV is a dusty, muted periwinkle crelly with a fine red shimmer running through it. It's a really pretty color, and great for Spring, even if it did come out 3 years ago!

Beware, though... the formula on this is thin. I definitely needed all 4 coats, and probable should've used a 5th. I still see some patchy areas. Other than requiring a lot of layers, Back to Reality... TV went on smoothly and easily. Very nice to work with, and I honestly forgot how nice the Nicole by OPI brushes are to work with!

As much as I like this one on my nails, I'll probably change it up tonight. I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for... something different! I ordered a couple of polishes from HB Beauty that I can't wait to get my hands on, and that's currently all I've been able to think about! Guess we'll just have to wait and see what the evening and the rest of the weekend brings...

Happy Friday!

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.
