Layering: A Celestial Seriotype

The Seriotype is seriously becoming my favorite mani. I mean... I love, Love, LOVE layering polish, so that really shouldn't come as a surprise. Right now though, I'm definitely swooning over this mashup of a seriotype and galaxy nails featuring blue, gold, and a whole lot of glitter...

On Friday night, Peanut and I went on a fun mommy/daughter date to a local planetarium. Sparklegirl was absolutely mesmerized by the presentation, and practically ran a full commentary during the entire thing, too. I think she's following in her mama's chatty footsteps. My mom has always told me that I talked nonstop when I was a kiddo... so I can't say I ever expected anything less. It is seriously the awesomest thing... watching little Sparklegirl discover new things with such a level of enthusiasm. I wish I could bottle her effervescence. It's soooo refreshing.

We've been talking a lot about the visit since then, so the planets, moon, and stars have been on my mind a lot. Last night, I quickly decided on blue as the main color for my nails. This celestial seriotype just sort of bloomed out of that. It's a glittery, seriotype take on galaxy nails and I'm seriously loving it!

And while we're on the topic of things I love... Sally Girl Trapeze Artist, guys. It's got such a pretty mix of colors and glitters, I really need to pick up a couple more bottles. I wish it came in a full-size bottle rather than the minis. But the price point is awesome at .99/bottle. Soooooo, I really can't complain that much. But I definitely need more. Lots more.

I can't say right now if I'm gonna leave this mani on for another day, or paint something new tonight. Honestly, I really never know, and Peanut is such a wild card these days. Come bedtime, she pulls out all the stops and stalls her little heart out. Mr. Sparkle called last night while she was still settling down, and I thought I could make a break for the door... WRONG! It would be different if she didn't say it in the cutest voice imaginable...

"You stay here?"

Cue those tres adorbs little brown blinkers of hers...

Yep sweetie. I'll stay here forever...

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.
