10 Surprising Things About Me

1. I barely watch TV. Obviously I watch Pretty Little Liars, and I catch the news here and there. Other than that, I stream a few select shows on Netflix. Doctor Who, H2O: Just Add Water, and Mako Mermaids are about it right now. I watch far more of Peanut's shows than anything right now. We watch Sofia the First, Super Why, Strawberry Shortcake, and Daniel Tiger together.

2. I have this incredible ability to remember song lyrics. Like every song lyric I've ever heard. Put it in a song, and it's that easy for me to remember. I would dominate on Name that Tune if it were still a thing! And from  what I've experienced so far, this is genetic and Peanut has the same ability.

3. I really dislike stereotypes. Maybe it has something to do with being contrary, but I strive to be myself, even if that means swimming upstream. I don't ever want to be put in a box, and I can't imagine why anyone else would either. I change my mind a lot, and my tastes change all the time.

4. I have never broken a bone and I never want to. Watching Mr. Sparkle recover from his broken hip was enough. And if we can extend my bone bubble over around Peanut, that would be great!

5. I tend to go a little overboard theorizing on my favorite books and shows. A Series of Unfortunate Events, Lost, and Pretty Little Liars are a few examples. Thankfully over on Tumblr, there are a lot of other like-minded PLL fans. If you watch and want to delve deeper but don't have any real life friends who watch... the PLL community there is super welcoming and seriously smart. It doesn't matter if it's an episode, interview, promo, or something Marlene King casually mentioned 3 years ago, we miss nothing. NOTHING!

6. I went to 3 different colleges and it took me 6 years to graduate because of transferring. But the program I graduated from has made all the difference. I'm really lucky to be working in the field I went to school for.

7. I was a total choir/drama geek in school. It was so much fun, and I hope Peanut gets similarly involved in something she's passionate about.

8. Seize the Sparkle is actually my 4th blog. It took me a little time to figure out exactly what I wanted to blog about and how to go about doing it. But here I am, 2+ years later... still going strong!

9. Before getting married, Mr. Sparkle and I dated for 8 years. We just celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary last year, and it just seems crazy some days that we've been together for this long! But I can honestly say I did marry my best friend. So, that's pretty cool.

10. I have never traveled out of the United States, but I dream of being bi-summeral. Spring and Summer here. Spring and Summer in Oz. How insanely great would that be? A girl can dream!

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.  Polishes Used:  1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Out Ridge Filler 3 Coats SinfulColors Mauve On Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line 1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.  Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.  This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd c

12 MoC: Merry Marsala

Since the announcement of Pantone's Color of the Year 2015, I've been on the hunt for Marsala in polish form. You might think this would be a simple task, but it's actually been quite difficult, and I'm still not 100% there. But this polish is thee best match (and deal) I've found so far. I give you Haze of Love... Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 4 Coats Wet N Wild Haze of Love 1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite   Marsala is an earthy red with an almost equal blend of red and brown. It's a super versatile shade, and depending on what you pair it with, it can lean towards either color. It's a rich shade, but not overly dark, and a little dusty. In all honesty, Haze of Love is a decent enough match, but it could still stand to be muted down a little bit. It's just the slightest bit too dark, now that I look at the graphics and my nail photos so closely together. But how many people are going to put

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027 , today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION ...  Polishes Used: 1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Over Ridge Filler 3 Coats China Glaze Violet Vibes Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line SinfulShine Konstellation 2 Coats SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and
