Fishbowl Friday *036*

Welcome to Fishbowl Friday on a Saturday, or as I like to call it, Peanut tired me out and I crashed really, really early last night. It was a busy day filled with a lot of running around and playing. While trying to tire her out, I tired myself out too! They might be a couple hours late, but here are my ABSTRACT nails...

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Over Ridge Filler
2 Coats SinfulColors Sky Tree
China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle
OPI On Pinks & Needles
SinfulColors Endless Blue
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

After searching high and low for Sky Tree, I fiiiiiinally found it during a recent Walgreens trip. As soon as I saw it swatched, I knew it had to be mine. If you've been lemming it too, you won't be disappointed. I definitely need to wear it on its own and swatch it here! It's a really pretty slightly jelly teal that is loaded with turquoise shimmer.

When I picked the prompt this time around, ABSTRACT definitely screamed Seriotype, so that's what I went with. Using Sky Tree as a base, I added splashes of Too Yacht To Handle and Endless Blue, dabbing each coat with saran wrap for a more random look. I topped the entire thing off with a coat of On Pinks & Needles, but I still wasn't satisfied. So, I added random splashes of Sky Tree, then topped it all off with another coat of On Pinks & Needles.

In hindsight, I proabably should've used colors that were more different from Sky Tree. I should also probably learn to step outside of my blue, turquoise, pink, aqua, purple comfort zone. It's definitely my default color combination!

Like I said, Sky Tree is a gorgeous polish that I'm going to need to wear on its own. And I recently picked up Rebel Rose, which looks like it might be a similar polish, just a pink jelly loaded with pink/purple shimmer. But the real surprise? On Pinks & Needles! Talk about glitter payoff! I really wasn't expecting that, and it was a nice surprise to get so much coverage! I could've easily left it at one coat, but I wanted more of a layered look to the glitter. For having larger pieces of glitter, On Pinks & Needles applied so easily! Now I just need the same exact formula for all the colors and finishes of glitter. Please?!?

When it comes to the photos... I know they look a little different, and there's a reason for that. I've been scouting out places to take pictures around the new house, and I'm still learning what times/areas work the best. I typically prefer daylight shade, so I've been working a little outside of my comfort zone. Results may vary, but I think that they came out pretty well. Maybe a little too shady for the shaded ones, but you'll have this, I suppose!

In other news, thanks to crashing so early last night, this manicure is still on my fingers. So, it still counts as an NOTD... Not sure if I'll be changing it tonight or not. If I haven't mentioned it before, and I don't think I have, Seriotypes do tend to last a little longer than your average mani, mainly because of the multitude of layers that go into them!

Other than that... it's Saturday. Lots of fun things planned for the day. Running around to get some groceries, lunch with Granny and Pop Pop, playground time, followed by dinner with Gigi and Papi. So... Happy Saturday! Hope you have a great weekend!!!

  1. Beautiful job. I love the combinations you picked.:-)

  2. Thanks Teresa! I'm in love with this pink glitter!!!

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.  Polishes Used:  1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Out Ridge Filler 3 Coats SinfulColors Mauve On Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line 1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.  Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.  This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd c

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027 , today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION ...  Polishes Used: 1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Over Ridge Filler 3 Coats China Glaze Violet Vibes Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line SinfulShine Konstellation 2 Coats SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and

This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3 In case you missed my review of First Kiss , daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health. Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter sha
