Fishbowl Friday *039*

Bonjour and Happy Friday! I've had a little bit of a crazy week and am definitely ready to just reeeelax! Anyone else feeling the same? I've been sick since Monday, and I'm fiiiiinally coming out on the other side. Yesterday, I pulled my prompt and got FLAKY. Here's a mani topped with a little something I very originally dubbed Franken Flaky... (I know!)

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Over Ridge Filler
3 Coats SinfulColors Mesmerize
2 Coats Franken Flaky
1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat
1 Coat Seche Vite

In December of last year, I mixed together a bunch of my flaky polishes to create Franken Flaky. I layered it over black back then, but I've gotta say, I like it over a deep purple much, much better! Not gonna lie, I was trying to emulate Unicorn Puke from Cult Nails by creating this.

I'm not sure if giving this a little time to settle made everything mesh together a little better, but I feel like the flakes are better spread out here. I also used one less coat, so maybe that had something to do with it too. Either way, I seriously looooove this mix of glitter and flakies. I wouldn't be against making a larger bottle of it, either. There are days that I wish I would've bought backups for every polish in the Special Effects Collection from Fingerpaints. I definitely had the foresight to get a backup bottle of Twisted, but I guess I just didn't think I'd need/want the others?

Note to Self, you will always, a-l-w-a-y-s need the others!

Before I painted, I thought about going a little bit lighter with my polish, but decided to go dark. Just
call me Ridley! Can't say I'm really sure what's with all the vampy colors lately... something a little bit different, I suppose? Don't expect me to start waxing philisophically about sweaters and boots yet, though. Salted caramel coffee I can do, but I'm not ready for cold weather anytime soon!

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

Fishbowl Friday 072 // Hard Candy

We're going to skip that whole part where we talk about how it's been a while, because well, it's been a really long while. I'm still trying to work out how to make room for blogging and juggle everything else, and it's definitely been a challenge. But know that I am working on it, and I do really, really miss it. This place has been my Quantum of Solace for a long time, and I'm not planning on letting it go anytime soon.

That being said... for this week's prompt, I was happily surprised when I pulled HARD CANDY. This is probably one of the most iconic brands of nail polish, and it's certainly gone through it's own number of changes throughout the years. Who didn't want to own a bottle of Sky once they saw it on Alicia Silverstone's nails way back in the 90's?

Last year, Hard Candy celebrated their 20th anniversary by bringing back some of their most iconic shades. The collection was a mix of five original shades and three new ones. I ma…
