Fishbowl Friday *043*

It's fiiiiiinally weekend o'clock! That magical time when you can say buh-bye to alllll that workweek stress and drama and just do whatever you want to do. Ahhhhh! Magical, I tell you!!! It's been a beyond crazy week for me, and the person who helps me through all that crazy is none other than Mr. Sparkle. Yep. Fresh back from Texas y'all, I can't tell you how great it has been to have him back and home. And back. Did I mention home? He was in charge of picking the prompt for me this time around. I give you the ever-so-ambitious-why-did-I-put-this-in-the-fishbowl 8 COLORS prompt...

Blue Seriotype

8 Color Mani

Blurple Seriotype Manicure

Blurple Galaxy Nails

8 Color Seriotype

Polishes Used:

1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Over Ridge Filler
2 Coats Orly On The Edge
China Glaze Mingle with Kringle
Color Club The Uptown
OPI Indigo Motif
SinfulColors Dream On
SinfulColors Jolt
SinfulColors My Buoyfriend
SinfulColors Rise & Shine
SinfulColors Thimbleberry

I think it was my love of layering polishes that made me write prompts for more than 2 colors. Taking that beyond 5, well... I do love a good challenge. I mean, it's always more interesting to do things the hard way, right?

8 COLORS pretty much guaranteed that this manicure was going to be Galaxy related or a Seriotype. In the beginning, I was thinking purple galaxies. Then I started thinking Seriotype about halfway through. Vibrant Galaxies, Subtle Seriotype. This mani really turned into a hybrid of the two. Galatype? Serioxy?

Whatever you want to call it, I'm really loving how this turned out. I especially love what The Uptown brought to this nail party. Color-shifting shimmer and flakes really add to the overall awesomeness of this manicure! I will admit that I think I need to put a pause on Seriotypes using blue, purple, or blurple as a base. There are so many other colors to play with, and I need to travel outside of my blue, purple, aqua, pink comfort zone!

Now that the weekend is officially here, I've got a couple things I desperately need to accomplish! My hair needs to be dyed, I desperately need a Pedicure, and if I do that, I'm gonna have to paint my nails again. Rainbow Honey's bath tea is calling my name. And that's just tonight! Tomorrow, it's a day of running around and doing errands, cleaning, church on Sunday, and a whole lot of playing with Peanut! Happy, Happy Friday to you!!! What fun things do you have planned?!?

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027, today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION...

Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and then add in some shimmer and glitter.

daniPro Forever Girl

Polishes Used:

5 Coats daniPro Forever Girl*
1 Coat daniPro Clear Top Cover*
1 Coat Seche Vite

I'm never one to pass up a pink polish and if the name of this doesn't say it all, the color definitely does! This is quite possibly the most perfect shade of light pink I've come across. And you all know how I love the color pink! <3

In case you missed my review of First Kiss, daniPro polishes were created by Manhattan Podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans. The formula is 5-free and the polishes are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association to promote good foot health.

Forever Pink is more of a crelly polish, so I had to use 5 coats to build up to the opacity you see in the pictures. Because of the sheer formula, it was a little patchy until about the 4th coat. But once this polish is opaque, it's a really gorgeous shade of pink and the crelly finish really made it shine. I've been into lighter shades on my toes lately…

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.

Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.
Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.
This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd coat and add a 3rd for balance. Next, I ad…
