12 Manicures of Christmas 010 // Layering with Wet n Wild Color Icon Los Feliz Navidad

Wet n Wild Color Icon Collections usually make me stop in my tracks. Aaaand then proceed to buy every polish on the display. This year, I showed tremendous restraint and only purchased two. But I've been eyeballing what's left every time I walk by the display.

Los Feliz Navidad has a huge sparkle factor, and that's what initially drew me in. But then I noticed the gorgeous slightly purple blue color and gold sparkles. It looked familiar, but I bought it anyway because I was curious about the formula. I'm definitely glad I picked this one up, because it is a gorgeous glitterbomb of a shade, perfect for this time of the year!

It's an unwritten rule here at Seize the Sparkle... Just because a polish is a glitterbomb does NOT mean that you can't add more glitter to the mix. Glitter is always encouraged. ALWAYS.

Los Feliz Navidad turned out to be a textured glitter polish, just like I thought it might be. I can't say that it's an exact dupe for L'Oreal Too Dimensional, but it's close. I feel like this shade is a little bit lighter and a little more sheer. It's a gorgeous blue-violet polish packed with textured glitter in the same color, small gold hex glitter, and a wash of shimmer that flashes green to gold.

Who wouldn't put more glitter on top of that?

Orly Gossip Girl is a glitter topper from the Infamous Collection. It's a mix of small red hex glitter and large gold hex glitter. Glitter payoff is ah-mazing, actually more than what I was looking for in this particular layering.

Did that stop me? Nope. I just went over everything with another coat of Los Feliz Navidad, turning the red and gold glitter in Gossip Girl to a nice shade of violet and greenish gold. It was the perfect compliment to what was already going on in Los Feliz Navidad.

Because I'm not the biggest fan of a gritty finish on my nails, I added two coats of clear and a coat of Seche Vite in an attempt to smooth things out. This layering was far from smooth, but I love how a little top coat really brings out the sparkle in polishes like Los Feliz Navidad!

I really love how this layering turned out. Even without the addition of Gossip Girl, Los Feliz Navidad is like a galaxy manicure in a bottle. I'd love to see more polishes like it in some color combinations we haven't seen yet!

SinfulColors Mauve On Seriotype

Whether you call it a seriotype or smooshy... (I prefer seriotype) there is just something about this style of manicure that I can't get enough of.  Polishes Used:  1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Out Ridge Filler 3 Coats SinfulColors Mauve On Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line 1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Hey there! It's been a little while, hasn't it? Sorry about that. Life happens, you know? Oddly enough, I didn't stop painting my nails during my hiatus. I kept taking pictures for a while, and then that just sort of stopped to. Weird how some habits die hard, while others don't change a bit.  Anyhoo... I found pictures of this mani in my files and couldn't believe I didn't share it! This was one of my favorite polishes last spring, and I recreated this exact seriotype/ a few times.  This mani started out with 3 fresh coats of Mauve On. I typically wrap my tips on the 2nd c

Fishbowl Friday 073 // Recreation

Every now and then, I enjoy looking back over past manicures. Creatively, it's just neat to see how far I've come since the days I started. Oddly enough, when I chose this prompt, I knew exactly which manicure I wanted to recreate. Based loosely on Fishbowl Friday 027 , today's seriotype nails are a RECREATION ...  Polishes Used: 1 Coat Fingerpaints Smooth Over Ridge Filler 3 Coats China Glaze Violet Vibes Essie Leggy Legend Pahlish Autumn People Pure Ice Get in Line SinfulShine Konstellation 2 Coats SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite Looking back, I can honestly say that my seriotype game has come far since I first learned the method. One of the things that took me a while to master was the balance of nail polish finishes. While seriotypes made exclusively with creme polishes look cool, those made with a combination of different finishes really pop. There's more depth involved when you layer a metallic over a jelly neon and

12 MoC: Merry Marsala

Since the announcement of Pantone's Color of the Year 2015, I've been on the hunt for Marsala in polish form. You might think this would be a simple task, but it's actually been quite difficult, and I'm still not 100% there. But this polish is thee best match (and deal) I've found so far. I give you Haze of Love... Polishes Used: 1 Coat Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler 4 Coats Wet N Wild Haze of Love 1 Coat SinfulColors Clear Coat 1 Coat Seche Vite   Marsala is an earthy red with an almost equal blend of red and brown. It's a super versatile shade, and depending on what you pair it with, it can lean towards either color. It's a rich shade, but not overly dark, and a little dusty. In all honesty, Haze of Love is a decent enough match, but it could still stand to be muted down a little bit. It's just the slightest bit too dark, now that I look at the graphics and my nail photos so closely together. But how many people are going to put
